After almost a year of strike action, they have reached an agreement that has meant equalization with the rest of the highway maintenance joint ventures in Gipuzkoa. In addition, restrictions have been placed on subcontracting.
22 workers from Bidegi’s outsourced service and the Gipuzkoa Provincial Council for the electrical maintenance of the AP-1/AP-8 and N-636 highways have reached an agreement with the company guaranteeing a minimum wage increase of 22%. On May 1, they would have ended a strike year.
The ELA union has explained that, after 363 strike days, the agreement assumes the equalization with the rest of the Gipuzkoa highway maintenance joint ventures, which translates into an increase of more than 6,000 euros (22%) in wage years they had before the start of the strike.
In addition, ELA has emphasized that the new bonus agreement could mean an additional 10% salary increase. Restrictions are also placed on outsourcing as GERTEK personnel will be subrogated to the UTE ITS.
To celebrate the agreement, they reconvened this Friday at the Zarautz toll booth to offer their “last concert” as this is their way of protesting and making their demands visible this year.
From ELA, they have emphasized that “it has been shown once again that the struggle, the strike and the support of a solid union are the key to winning industrial disputes.”
