The professional fire brigade had to move to a smoky bakery on Ebentaler Straße in Klagenfurt at 2.30 am on Sunday. Racks full of biscuits for the cup final were completely burnt out.
“The employees were able to move the shelves with the charred rolls and croissants outside. But the bakery was so full of smoke that we had to enter the building with heavy respiratory protection,” Wolfgang Germ, chief of operations, describes the situation.
Intended for cup finals
The cookies were intended for the cup final in Klagenfurt. Three to four high shelves full of charred pastries could only be thrown away.
To allow the employees of the bakery to continue working, the areas of the bakery were made smoke-free by means of powerful fans from the professional fire brigade. “Everything was carefully checked. We were able to move back in after an hour,” says Germ.
Fortunately, the work in the bakery could be continued so that the small baked goods could still be produced and delivered for the cup final.
