Serious accident at a level crossing in Mureck (Styria): A 50-year-old e-bike driver may have overlooked an approaching passenger train on Monday afternoon. A collision occurred and the man was seriously injured.
The 50-year-old from the Murtal district and his wife rode their e-bikes along the Hoffeldstrasse (municipality road) towards Mureck around 1:20 p.m. At the railroad crossing, which was protected by a stop sign, the man may have overlooked a passenger train coming from the direction of the playing field. When he noticed the train, he slowed down his e-bike, but came to a stop on the track. The 29-year-old driver immediately applied emergency braking, but was unable to prevent a collision.
