In Traismauer (St. Pölten district), a 29-year-old was arrested late Tuesday evening on suspicion of stabbing his 19-year-old girlfriend in the back.
The horrific act was committed around 11 p.m. The 19-year-old escaped from the apartment, although seriously injured, and was cared for by neighbors. According to Schwaigerlehner, the suspect from the St. Pölten district called the emergency number himself and was then arrested without resistance. The 29-year-old was said to have been heavily intoxicated at the time of the crime.
Young woman undergoes emergency surgery
The young woman was immediately operated on at the University Hospital St. Pölten and is now in a stable condition, police spokesman Raimund Schwaigerlehner said Wednesday morning. The investigation into the case is in full swing.
