Fellow fishermen of a deceased friend are stunned. Strangers simply kicked over the memorial cross that had been erected on his favorite fishing spot on the Upper Drau in Carinthia and threw it away.
“We erected the memorial cross for our colleague Armin Egger, who died suddenly last year, on his favorite fishing spot on the upper Drau,” says Josef Raffelsberger. A commemorative plaque was also installed.
It was a beautiful cast iron cross to remember a dear friend forever. Strangers simply kicked the cross over and threw it away on Wednesday. “We don’t know if it was thrown into the Drau or taken,” Raffelsberger said.
The friends have no words
“Who does that? We are all shocked!” The friends agree, however, that they will erect a new cross very soon.”Our Armin must continue to have his memorial, so that he may smile at us from heaven,” was the tenor of the ten fishermen friends.
And when the strangers knock over the cross again, the friends put up a new one. “If anyone has seen or noticed anything, they can contact me confidentially,” emphasizes Josef Raffelsberger, who also published the irreverent act on Facebook.
