Sunday was quite busy for the fire brigades in Upper Austria. In Gosau, five fire departments were on fire for four and a half hours because a solar energy system caught fire. The day before, a PV system in the Mühlviertel had also caught fire.
Fortunately, there were no injuries, but the extinguishing work was complex. In Windhaag near Freistadt, 30 fire brigade helpers were present when a fire broke out in a residential building – apparently there was a defect in the PV system that led to the fire.
Similar scenario on Sunday in Gosau:
Between 3:02 PM and 7:30 PM, five fire brigades were deployed to a residential building. According to the alarm, the PV installation had caught fire. How exactly this happened is still unclear.
Another case in Bad Ischl
The fire brigade also had to move to a residential building in Bad Ischl. Here the wood stored next to the stove had started to burn. Despite the enormous smoke development, the residents were able to bring the flames under control with a fire extinguisher.
And in the evening, volunteers had to fight a chimney fire in Oberndorf near Schwanenstadt and move to a cellar fire in Hochburg-Ach. No injuries were reported here either.
