On Tuesday, the central Matura began in Latin and Greek. This means that there are two smaller subjects on the programme. While about 2100 students graduate in Latin, only 14 are in Ancient Greek.
Mathematics exams start on Wednesday for the majority of the approximately 42,000 students. There is a break on Thursday due to the national holiday in Upper Austria (St. Florian). The German exams will follow on Friday, in which all students must participate.
foreign languages next week
The written exams in the foreign languages will follow next week. On Monday, the written Matura will continue with Spanish or the languages Hungarian, Slovenian and Croatian. English follows on Tuesday and French on Wednesday. It ends on Thursday with Italian.
Most of the Corona relief of recent years will no longer apply this time. What has remained is that the grade in the last class is included in the Matura. This means that students of general secondary education (AHS) and vocationally-oriented higher education (BHS) with a pass or better mark in their annual report are largely exempt from failing.
