Russian forces have launched the latest attack on the Azovstal steel plant in Mariupol, both the Azov regiment, which defends the steel plant, and Ukrainian police sources reported today.

Mariupol Mayor Vadim Boichenko confirmed on Tuesday that: 200 civilians are still incarcerated at the metallurgical plant waiting to be evacuated from the area.
Boichenko has also warned that Russian troops have blocked the evacuation of 2,000 residents of Mariupol who are in the town of Berdyansk, a few kilometers away, according to information from the Ukrinform news agency.
Boichenko estimates that there are more than 100,000 residents of Mariupol who may also be waiting to move. “Yesterday the attacks on Azovstal started just after the evacuation,” he lamented.
