A fatal and unusual accident occurred in Innsbruck on Tuesday morning: a wheel suddenly came loose from a car. It rolled away and hit a woman on the sidewalk. The 54-year-old woman from the neighborhood fell and sustained injuries.
The strange accident happened shortly after 8:00 a.m. A 36-year-old resident drove his car onto Andechsstrasse in the east of the city and then turned onto Gumppstrasse.
Perceived knocking sounds
“Before the entrance to a supermarket, the driver suddenly noticed banging noises from the front of the car,” police said.
And then it happened: the left front wheel shot off, rolling diagonally across the road and onto the sidewalk where the 54-year-old was standing.
Woman suffered bruises
“The woman could no longer avoid it. She was hit by the rolling tire and fell to the ground. “She suffered a bruise,” the researchers concluded.
