Law firm break-in – police dog finds suspected burglar

Date:

A police dog tracked down a burglar hiding under a desk who had previously broken into a law firm in Vienna’s 1st district. The 58-year-old was subsequently arrested by the officers.

After an eyewitness saw a break-in in the apartment next door, he immediately alerted the police. When the police arrived, the suspect was still in the office. A police service dog and WEGA officials were therefore called in to help identify the burglar. The sniffer dog eventually found the burglar under a desk.

The suspect, who was arrested without resistance, turned out to be a 58-year-old Austrian. The man stated that he had money problems as a motive for the crime. A woolen hood, gloves and the tools used in the crime were secured. The Vienna Criminal Investigation Department, Center-East Department, is now responsible for the subsequent investigations.
