Why was a bull in the Tyrolean Schwendt so aggressive that it attacked two men (63)? Eyewitnesses who followed the events from a safe distance describe dramatic scenes. Is there animal abuse? The police are investigating!
As reported on Monday, a farmer (63) was seriously injured in a bull attack in Schwendt in the Tyrolean district of Kitzbühel: the man had tried to drive the animal, which was released for the first time after a long winter break, back home to the farm. The neighbor came to help.
Walkers witnessed
It was initially unclear why the bull became so aggressive. Descriptions of eyewitnesses who contacted the “Krone” may shed some light: they are still shocked by what happened near the bike path.
Bull grazed, men came
“We walked and passed a farm. A bull ran freely in the pasture and continued to graze. Two men approached from the yard at a normal walking pace. One of the two suddenly started hitting the animal’s head with a stick! The second joined in and hit the animal’s head with a stick. The bull took a defensive stance and allowed itself to be pushed back, making “warning charges” and defending itself by picking up the horns of the man who had charged him first, throwing him off and stamping all over him. It was so horrifying to see me put 911 on speed dial. We thought the person was dead, or at least seriously injured.”
The drama continued, even though Bauer was already on the floor
But the drama did not end there: “The second person involved again attacked the animal, which was standing there in a defensive position, and hit its head again with a stick. Meanwhile, a third person approached from the yard. The second attacker also was attacked by the animal and tossed through the air several times, pushed away with its horns and caught off guard The one who fell first meanwhile got up and attacked the animal again with the stick We were not sure how to react or how to had to intervene. We were about 300 meters away. Shortly afterwards the ambulance and a helicopter arrived at the farm.”
An alarmed hunter finally shot the bull.
