A slight sigh of relief in the case of the baby who was injured in an apartment fire in Innsbruck on Wednesday and has since had to be treated in intensive care at the clinic. The condition of the two-month-old girl is stable – she could possibly be transferred to the normal ward on Thursday.
“The child is currently under observation in intensive care. It will probably be moved to the normal ward later in the day,” says clinic spokesman Johannes Schwamberger when asked by “Krone”. So the girl is on the mend.
Flaming inferno on the top floor
What happened? Shortly before 1 p.m. on Wednesday, a fire suddenly broke out in an apartment in a block of flats on Kranebitter Allee. Flames were shooting out of the windows and smaller explosions could also be heard (see video above).
A 33-year-old resident sustained serious burns in the fire. Their two-month-old daughter was also injured. Both had to be admitted to the Innsbruck clinic, where the baby was eventually treated in intensive care.
Did the fire break out because of e-scooters?
A neighbor also had to be taken to the clinic with suspected smoke inhalation. “Thanks to the quick action of the professional fire brigade of Innsbruck, the fire was extinguished and the fire was prevented from spreading to other apartments,” the police said.According to the current state of the investigation, a technical defect is assumed during the charging of an e-scooter.
