A brutal thief committed mischief in Tyrol’s Wipptal on Wednesday afternoon: After the initially unknown perpetrator stole a money bag from a shopping cart in a supermarket in Matrei am Brenner, he ran away and fled with the S-Bahn towards Steinach. At the local train station, the handcuffs finally clicked.
At around 4:30 p.m., the long finger hit a grocery store in Matrei. He grabbed the money bag that was in a shopping cart, stole more than 100 euros in cash and then took off. The man eventually took the S-Bahn to Steinach am Brenner.
But the police were already waiting on the platform. “The suspect, a 38-year-old Pole, was found and arrested by the officers,” said the detectives.
Money and drugs seized
The stolen money and a small amount of cannabis were secured with the alleged perpetrator. He was released after questioning.
