Packed into trucks – families wandered: again asylum drama at the border

Date:

Smuggling crime is taking on increasingly dramatic forms. Gangs of smugglers on their way to Austria are not afraid of the most brutal methods – now terrible scenes have played out again at the border in the Oberpullendorf district of Burgenland.

As reported, the first major alarm went off this week on Wednesday. Hungarian policemen had chased escaped smugglers into Austria. After a reckless descent into hell, which was really dangerous for road users, the two perpetrators and two accomplices were arrested on the S31 near Neutal.

Stopped in borders
The next incident was not long in coming. Patrols stopped a Romanian Mercedes at the border crossing in Deutschkreutz on Thursday evening. The 22-year-old Moldovan at the wheel claimed to be on his way to Paris.

Two perpetrators convicted
While the driver was nervously looking for his ID, a compatriot (35) and apparent accomplice entered the police control with a small truck. The hold was empty, but there was a “pervasive smell”. It soon turned out that the drivers were a smuggler duo – specifically a large transport of migrants with a vehicle in front.

Families wandered
The Moldovans brought 19 refugees in Hungary to the green border, after their illegal crossing they would be arrested. In fact, the migrants were later rounded up in Nikitsch and Deutsch Minihof, including Turkish couples with three to four children each. Her first words: “Asylum!”
