A detached house in Seewalchen caught fire on Friday evening. Because the building was completely demolished, the emergency services could only enter the house on Saturday afternoon. The two residents – an elderly couple – could only be found dead.
Shortly after 6 p.m. on Friday, the fire brigade received an alarm: fire in a residential building in Seewalchen am Attersee. The extent soon became clear: the single-family home was completely on fire. 16 fire brigades and about 200 emergency services worked all night fighting the flames.
Above all, the question was: where are the two inhabitants? A 61-year-old woman and her 64-year-old husband have been missing since the outbreak of the fire.
I just found more bodies
The flames destroyed the house so badly that the emergency services were not able to gain access to the house until Saturday afternoon. The fears were confirmed: the elderly couple could not save themselves from the flames in time. Around 2 p.m., the helpers discovered the body of the 61-year-old woman for the first time. About an hour later, her 64-year-old husband was also found dead.
Cause of fire unclear
The fire brigade was able to prevent the flames from spreading to neighboring homes on the night of the fire. The cause of the fire is still unclear, the National Investigation Department is investigating.
