Many e-bikes are now equipped with GPS trackers that can locate a bike at any time. That paid off with two-wheel thefts in Tyrol. The police found a suspected thief (29) using a location app. But it didn’t stop with one suspect.
On Friday evening, a man in Innsbruck called the police. He said his bike was stolen and showed officers where the vehicle was on a cell phone app. The tracking app led police to Mils, where the bike was secured.
A victim photographed the suspect’s car
Then one thing led to another: a second victim, who also found his bicycle via an app, had photographed the car of a Bulgarian (29) who allegedly committed the two thefts. That’s how the police came to the suspect. During a house search, two other bicycles were found in the man’s home.
39-year-old and his son (14) also under suspicion
But that is not everything. The investigation showed that the Bulgarian had gone on a stealing expedition with a compatriot (39) and his son (14). An e-bike and an e-scooter were seized from the 39-year-old. Further investigations are underway.
