Spectacular turning point in the murder alarm on Sunday in Vienna-Simmering: the later victim wanted to collect debts with the gun. In the life-and-death struggle, the threatened 34-year-old businessman apparently pulled the trigger. Now it is the turn of the public prosecutor, the shooter may even be released soon.
After the fatal shot in a copy and business card shop on Simmeringer Hauptstrasse, a murder charge could be off the table. Because the suspect is pleading for self-defense. Earlier studies even paint the following picture: The fatal reason for the bloody act among recognized Iranian refugees is probably money disputes of several thousand euros.
Debts that the later victim Seyed Mojtaba B., with his girlfriend (26) in tow, apparently wanted to collect from Yusof A. in his shop on Sunday. The 38-year-old family man and asylum seeker marched to the debate with a gun in his luggage.
The shot should have come after a scuffle
After a loud argument, a fight to the death may have ensued in the small shop. In the scuffle that followed, Yusof A. allegedly snatched his compatriot’s (illegal) gun and pulled the trigger in front of the victim’s shocked young mother and partner.
As reported, the 38-year-old collapsed with a gunshot to the chest and died in hospital. The fugitive suspect was then found in a nearby park and arrested without resistance, along with the alleged murder weapon.
Captured shooter can even roam free
The next bang followed on Monday: the 26-year-old girlfriend of the shot man and witness to the bloody deed has also been provisionally arrested by the police. Now it’s the prosecutor’s turn, it’s even possible that the shooter will be released if he follows his self-defense argument. According to national law, one may defend oneself or ward off an attack on life and health.
