Victory in Graz – The best young rescuers come from Krenglbach

Date:

So if you have a medical emergency, go to Krenglbach, because this is where the best young rescuers come from. And after the national competition of the Red Cross Youth, held in Graz, this is now even official.

194 children and young people and 89 carers from Upper Austria travelled to the capital of Styria and were faced with competition from all over the country. More than 1,200 young helpers were present.

There’s always something happening
According to the organizers, there was no time for boredom during the four days of the event. The opening ceremony with an acrobatic show was the starting point on Thursday evening. On Friday and Saturday, the national Red Cross Youth competition provided plenty of action in the center of Graz. Exciting workshops and a colorful supporting program on the camp site ensured that there was always something going on. The crowning glory of the big event was the award ceremony at the Graz trade fair on Saturday evening.

Seven points decided
And the Upper Austrians topped the podium in the “Youth 1 (11 to 14 years)” competition with 876 points. With a lead of seven points over the second-placed Feldbachers (Styria), they took the victory and the only podium place back to Upper Austria.

“It’s fun to help”
“It is impressive to see the dedication and professionalism of the young people. Their dedication shows that the leisure-oriented work in the youth groups of the local Red Cross offices conveys important knowledge. Here we experience how much fun it can be to help other people,” praises Upper Austria. Red Cross President Walter Aichinger ‘his’ Krenglbachers and all the others who have spent their free time ‘rescuing’.
