After fear spread in East Tyrol because several children reported that strange men had spoken to them and offered them sweets (the “Krone” reported), at least the mystery of an incident in Innervillgraten may have been solved. However, other cases are still unclear.
It is probably a classic case of ‘well-intentioned, ill-conceived’, as intensive police investigation has shown. The dark-skinned man, reported by two children in Innervilgraten on September 15, is therefore probably a holiday guest (23) from Saudi Arabia.
No wrongdoing noted
The man’s landlords saw him working on his car that day when a child happened to pass by. The man then wanted to give him candy, but the child refused. The landlords did not experience the holiday guest’s gesture as misconduct and therefore did not report it to the police.
Other cases unexplained
The Saudi guest left shortly after the incident, so not an option for two more incidents on September 25 in Innervillgraten and on September 27 in Lienz, as police confirmed.
