Dealers from Pinzgau and Pongau sold about six kilograms of cocaine and ten kilograms of herbal cannabis to buyers. Salzburg police arrested eight men and two women after house searches.
After months of investigation, Salzburg police broke up a drug ring in Pinzgau and Pongau in March and found about 60 customers in addition to ten dealers. The drugs – cocaine and cannabis in particular – were ordered by consumers through various chat platforms and delivered by car by the dealers, most of whom were known to the authorities. In some cases, the narcotic, previously largely diluted, was also sold to buyers in bars.
Twelve searches
According to information from the police, between October 2022 and March 2023, the suspects are said to have been involved in organized trafficking in about six kilos of cocaine and more than ten kilos of herbal cannabis with a total value of about 600,000 euros. Twelve house searches have been carried out and ten people between the ages of 20 and 24 have been arrested, five of whom have been transferred to different prisons.
Two female and eight male dealers
The two female and eight male dealers remained silent about the origin of the drugs. Further investigations are underway. All dealers and buyers are reported under the Narcotics Act. Some people will also be charged with possession of illegal weapons and with traffic violations: the latter for delivering drugs by car without having a driver’s license.
