Two cyclists successfully resuscitated their friend (69) on Tuesday afternoon. The man from Steyr suffered a heart attack during a joint e-bike tour to St. Ulrich. His great luck: the two lifeguards had only completed a first aid course in recent years.
Two cyclists proved on Tuesday that first aid training can save lives. Three friends were traveling from Steyr to St. Ulrich on an e-bike on Tuesday when one of them — a 69-year-old from Steyr — suddenly collapsed around 2 p.m.
Heart attack and Radausflug
His two friends, a 63-year-old from St. Ulrich and a 57-year-old from Steyr, quickly recognized the situation. They immediately started CPR and called an ambulance – just as they had been taught in a first aid course.
Helicopter to hospital
Thanks to the exemplary first aid of the guardian angels and the rapid arrival of the emergency services, the heart attack patient was successfully revived. The C10 rescue helicopter flew the 69-year-old to Kepler University Hospital in Linz.
