A prisoner from Salzburg prison escaped on Tuesday afternoon during a medical examination at the Accident Hospital (UKH). Since then, the police and the judiciary have intensively searched for the man in the city of Salzburg.
Immediately after the incident, the search was started in the area surrounding the hospital. In the course of the search, the area was expanded to include both sides of the Salzach up to the main station. It has not been announced exactly how many emergency services were deployed, but the police are involved in the search.
The fugitive, who was in custody, is believed to have been imprisoned for suspected property crimes. According to the authorities, there is no immediate danger to the population.
The search remained fruitless until the early afternoon hours. However, the investigation continues.
