A clever boss of a fitness chain explained in parliament how someone can live to be 100 years old – at least potentially.
Everyone actually wants a long and healthy life. But what can you do about it yourself? Under the title “Healthy years into old age”, John Harris boss Ernst Minar spoke about the big inquiry in the House of Lords on Wednesday. “Austria has a good health care system, but it is designed to fix or take care of. The key to a long and healthy life is prevention in the form of exercise, fitness and a healthy diet,” says Minar.
Sounds simple, but most of the time it failed due to implementation, money or the weaker self.
Minar also pointed out that a combination of strength and cardio training is important at any age and it’s never too late to start. The goal should be that people become healthier in old age and therefore automatically happier, just like in the Scandinavian countries.
Minar therefore calls for the abolition of the VAT increase for swimming pools (which was increased from 10 to 13 percent in 2016) and for the creation of tax incentives for exercise and fitness, similar to those in Norway. He himself runs eight fitness studios in Vienna. The people’s representatives promised to promote movement more.
