Mice infestation, pigeon poop – Bah! Neighbor breeds vermin

Date:

Sieglinde B. from Floridsdorfer Kainachgasse in Vienna is confronted daily with mice and pigeon droppings in her residential complex. The neighbor on the 4th floor would be to blame. This should breed insects. The health authorities and the exterminator are tied because the woman denies them both access.

For more than a year, Sieglinde B. from Kainachgasse in Floridsdorf has been fighting in vain against pigeon droppings and mice on the loggia of her third-floor apartment. “I’ve even had the mice in,” said the desperate tenant. She recently tried to prevent pigeons from flying in and out by means of a net over her loggia.

Neighbor does not allow exterminators in the apartment
The person who caused this complaint lives directly above Mrs. B. on the top floor. Pigeons have been nesting there for a long time and flying in and out of the loggia. The pest controller called in thinks that the pigeon droppings must have attracted the mice. However, the exterminator had to leave without reaching anything because the neighbor who lived on the 4th floor refused him access. “The resident did not open the door for the health authorities either,” the pensioner reports.

The property management recently informed the tenant that the loggia was part of the apartment and that she would therefore have to carry out and pay for future pest control operations herself.

Now former municipal councilor Hans Jörg Schimanek stands up for those affected: “The tenant does not dare to open the balcony door or window for fear of the mice. There is also an acute health risk for the woman due to the droppings of pigeons and mice.
