He slept like a king, but never paid for it. After a 38-year-old robbed eight different hotels in Upper Austria of their income, the rent fraudster’s handcuffs clicked on Monday. Now he has to endure the bed in Ried prison.
Between March 23 and May 8, a 38-year-old man without a home rented eight different accommodations and hotel accommodations in the Schärding city area and surrounding municipalities. In doing so, he pretended to be solvent and left the accommodation a day before the scheduled departure without paying, resulting in a damage of 6,000 euros.

He also stole various inventory items from the accommodations, such as flat screen televisions, coffee makers and cutlery. After investigative measures by the police, detectives managed to arrest the man at an accommodation on May 8. After consultation with the Ried public prosecutor’s office, the arrested person was admitted to Ried prison on May 9, 2023.
