In Leoben, Upper Styria, a slight earthquake shook the region late Thursday evening: it was registered at 22:14 with a magnitude of 2.8. Some residents heard creaking in buildings and rumbling underground.
However, no damage to buildings is known or – with a magnitude of 2.8 – expected, Geosphere Austria (Austrian Seismological Service) said Friday. However, the earthquake was felt by the population in the so-called epicentral area. The experts are hoping for feedback on the earthquake, which will be documented by Geosphere.
Fine cracks only from a size 3
Fine cracks in buildings are usually to be expected from a magnitude of 3 or 3.5.
