A man has been killed in a gas explosion at a house, followed by a fire in a village in western Slovakia. According to a report from TV news channel TA3, two injured neighbors were taken to hospital on Sunday.
According to the fire service, at least six adjoining apartments were damaged by the explosion and fire and had to be evacuated. The accident happened on Saturday evening in the village of Biely Kostol, a suburb of the regional capital Trnava (in Tyrnau, Germany).
Photos published by police that night show the explosion shattering the entire top floor of the apartment building. The news portal Pravda.sk published an amateur video taken through the shattered glass door of a neighboring house.
Explosion caused intentionally?
You can see that parts of the building were also scattered in the adjacent garden. According to unconfirmed media reports, the killed man deliberately caused the explosion to kill himself.
