Unusual deployment for the fire brigade in the Tyrolean Erl (Kufstein district) on Sunday morning. Emergency services had to rescue a cow that had escaped and fallen down a narrow shaft.
It was probably the joy of the upcoming cattle drive that made the cow run away at around 7 a.m. Sunday at a farm in Erl. A covered shaft then became the animal’s downfall: According to information from “Krone”, the weight broke the lid and the cow fell into the hole, where it got stuck, hopelessly trapped.
To no avail, the fire brigade had to intervene. The 19 emergency services, led by commander Andreas Kronthaler, used the crane of a local company and managed to carefully lift the poor cow out of the shaft.
A vet attended to the injured cow. According to initial information, she suffered only minor injuries during her odyssey: the vet would have found only a few abrasions.
