Each year, the otherwise family-oriented Lignano gears up for a four-day party marathon with almost exclusively Austrian participants. More bookings than ever have been received for Pentecost this year, the police and administration are arming themselves with new “anti-barbaric measures” against the party animals.
The meeting in preparation for the Pentecost weekend lasted a little longer at the beginning of May. Local officials, politicians, police, emergency services, innkeepers and an envoy from the Interior Ministry had arrived to take action against the hordes from the north. Not for nothing: 15,000 more bookings have already been counted than in 2022, the holiday park is creating 75,000 beds at its peak, and around 90,000 partygoers are expected in the next four days, depending on the weather.
This does not include the countless overnight stays of those who sleep in the car or on the beach, or ideally do not want to sleep at all. And they are always suspicious of the prefect of the region, Massimo Marchesiello: “We will do our utmost to prevent the inappropriate behavior of a few so that the image of the city does not suffer.” The rules at a glance:
