Shock when a Boeing 747 F made an emergency landing at Luxembourg airport: shortly after take-off, the landing gear could not be retracted and the machine had to roll back. However, when the plane landed, the vehicle part tore off – the airport had to be closed for hours.
The incident happened on Sunday evening. The cargo plane was supposed to fly to Chicago, but the right main landing gear failed immediately on take-off. It was decided that the vehicle would land back in Luxembourg.
Dumped fuel prior to emergency landing
Before that, the fuel was drained to reduce weight – for this, the plane circled the area. The runway was approached after an hour. This resulted in the spectacular accident in which the support structure was thrown dozens of meters through the air.
The cargo plane was able to land in a controlled manner and rescuers were quickly on the scene. No one was injured on board or on the ground. However, for safety reasons, the runway will be closed for several hours.
