Resident annoyed – fuss about Billa discount stickers in Vienna residential building

Date:

In April, inflation in Austria rose to 9.8 percent. Since the price increases, daily groceries are more expensive than ever. Percentages and, in the case of retail chain Billa, the popular discount stickers are therefore more important than ever. But a residential building in the Goldegasse in the 4th district has always had to do without, as a resident of krone.at himself reveals.

With the stickers you save 25 percent on your favorite product, according to retail chain Billa. In fact, after food prices have risen rapidly recently, many households depend on these discounts. No wonder, because many Austrians feel the price increases in their wallets. A residential building in Vienna’s Goldegasse has so far had to do without the popular markings. A woman living in the building can only speculate about the reasons.

“Maybe they will be stolen from the letterbox,” was the first guess of the “Krone” reader-reporter. However, the Viennese woman has also recently seen how deliverers of unaddressed mail in Weyringergasse remove all discount stickers from the folders. “It was early in the morning and I no longer dared to look at the men,” continues the resident. Why these men stole all the stickers, the 37-year-old can only speculate. The same could have happened in the Goldegasse.

No help from Billa employees
The Viennese woman has already contacted the retail chain herself. However, the responses she received from the staff were unsatisfactory. Statements such as “we are not allowed to do that” or “otherwise we can be fired” did not help the 37-year-old. In any case, the resident of Goldegasse feels unfairly treated, especially in times like these: “What is certain is that the food companies are selling enormously and that this is increasing year after year and now with the often incomprehensible price increases.”

Billa becomes more frugal with discount markers
In mid-February you could already see that Billa was quite frugal with the discount stickers. The retail chain reduced the number of weekly 25 percent stickers from four to three. This small change caught the attention of many consumers.
