A Steinfelder was unlucky: his car was hit by a heavy stone in Carinthia on Tuesday night.
Karl Stocker couldn’t believe his eyes when he looked in front of his house early Tuesday morning. On the passenger seat of his car was a huge, heavy rock. The car was completely demolished. “It must have happened at night,” says the pensioner from Steinfeld.
However, he did not notice this incident. “The impact must have caused a loud bang, but I slept well,” says the shocked Upper Carinthian.
The boulder must have come loose after the rainy days
The heavy rock had rolled down a steep slope and was heading straight for the farmer’s house. “The steep slope is directly behind our farm. The boulder must have come loose about 500 meters away,’ the farmer suspects. The main reason for this was probably the persistent rainy weather. “It has been raining for days, so it may happen that something comes loose in the steep terrain.”
Stocker is nevertheless thankful that nothing more happened. “Fortunately it only hit my car, which I parked right in front of my house. I couldn’t have imagined it if people were around.”
