Attended a football match, damaged car, 1000 euros in damages: who is going to pay for it? Franz Ebner is at odds with the insurance company.
He has seen hundreds of UFV Thalgau football games and Franz Ebner almost always travels to away games. The 80-year-old will have a special memory of his favorite club’s guest appearance at UFC Hallein at the end of August – but not in a positive way.
“As always, I arrived by car and parked in front of the football field,” says Ebner. He bought a ticket and sat down in the stands. Then the misfortune began: first UFV Thalgau was 0-2 behind, and in the second half the Hallein announcer suddenly gave his license plate number. “They said I had to get in touch urgently,” the 80-year-old recalls. Ebner was asked to go to his car in front of the stadium gate. The windshield was badly damaged – smashed by a powerful kick from a football. “I also missed two goals from Thalgau,” he laughs.
Much less funny: the Flachgauer still has the damage to this day. Repairing the window cost almost 1,100 euros, with a deductible of 350 euros. “But I don’t see that I have to pay for that. “I have not done anything at all,” says Ebner. He contacted the responsible parties at UFC Hallein. However, the club’s insurance company stood in the way. “It was thought that the shooter was responsible for the damage, but that could no longer be determined,” says the Flachgau resident.
UFC President Jurica Mustac confirmed to the “Krone” in any case: “We will look at it again and will definitely find a solution.”
