The 35-year-old was heavily drunk at 7:30 p.m. on Thursday evening and urinated on a platform at Götzis station. Bystanders then approached the man known at the office and asked him to use the toilets.
The man then retreated from the platform, but returned soon after, took a knife and stabbed a man who had spoken to him earlier in the back. The 24-year-old victim suffered life-threatening injuries and was taken to hospital. Fortunately, his condition is now stable and he has already been questioned by the police.
Knife despite the ban on weapons
The perpetrator fled after his cowardly attack, but was caught and arrested during an immediate search in the Götzis area. Both the perpetrator and the victim are Austrian citizens and the 35-year-old perpetrator is not allowed to use weapons.
