And fewer companies – why tourists in Lower Austria will have to pay more in the future

Date:

The black and blue state government is putting tourism funding across the country on a new footing. The “Krone” explains why and how much more tourists will have to pay in the future – and why the tourism industry is still expecting another record year.

A total of 6.6 million overnight stays were recorded in Lower Austria last year. That is significantly more than during the pandemic, but less than in the record year 2019, in which 7.6 million overnight stays were achieved. To relieve the burden on local hotels in times of rising prices, the financing of the tourism system is now being retooled and applied to the interest rate and accommodation tax.
