Children in the town of Recklinghausen in the German state of North Rhine-Westphalia found the body of a 19-year-old woman in the schoolyard of their primary school on Monday. The identity of the dead and the cause of death are still unclear, a police spokeswoman said Monday.
Due to her age, the dead woman could not be a student at the school. The students found the lifeless woman on Monday morning around 07:00, says police spokeswoman Corinna Kutschke. “Unfortunately, one or more schoolchildren would have found the woman. They thought she was just sleeping,” she said. An emergency physician was only able to determine her death.

Assistant ministers then took care of the children. Due to the unclear situation, a homicide squad was routinely deployed. According to the municipality, classes at the primary school were canceled on Monday.
