A 67-year-old pensioner in Trautmannsdorf, Bruck an der Leitha district, narrowly escaped a fatal collision with a train.
The pensioner wanted to cross a level crossing with her walker when her walker suddenly got stuck in the rails and got stuck. And just then a train approached. All the pulling and pushing was useless – the woman on her way home from shopping couldn’t get the walker free.
Rollator was crushed
The driver recognized the dangerous situation from a distance of approximately 700 meters and immediately applied emergency braking. But the several-ton train only came to a stop almost 150 meters behind the level crossing. The jammed rollator and the potatoes transported in it were crushed by the train. Fortunately, the pensioner decided to leave her walker behind and saved herself in time.
