Tragedy struck Sunday afternoon in the Mexican state of Baja California. At least ten people were killed in an amateur rally after being caught in the crossfire of two drug gangs.
As the news channel “Televisa” reports, nine other people were reportedly taken to hospital with serious injuries. Disturbing images circulating online show the bodies lying in blood between the rally cars.
Special forces were late
The pilots allegedly parked their cars during a stopover in the small town of Ensenada when the gangs got out of their pickup trucks and opened fire. Not all drivers managed to escape. Only when it was too late and the perpetrators had already left the area did special forces from the police, army and navy arrive to secure the crime scene.
