At 2:36 a.m., the fire brigade and police were called to the “Stadsmarkt” near Schiller Park. The Floriani disciples had to break open the door to find out at the source of the fire.
The apartment above also had to be evacuated because of the heavy smoke coming in through a tilted window. One person was taken to hospital with suspected smoke inhalation, but no one was present in the store itself.
Detectives and a fire expert assessed the damage, which was limited to the sales area on the ground floor, and were able to rule out a technical defect and an indication of an “external source of ignition”. The amount of the damage is not yet clear, but exceeds the limit of 100,000 euros.
