Severe thunderstorms moved across large parts of the country on Tuesday afternoon. The fire brigade was constantly on duty, there were 100 damage cases in Graz alone. However, the situation has since calmed down.
The storm lasted for a few minutes with heavy rain and storm in Graz, but it had fatal consequences. Trees fell on cars, basements and streets flooded, streams became raging rivers.
“There were a total of 100 damage cases,” says firefighter Ingo Mayer, head of the professional fire department, in an interview with “Krone”. Thank goodness no one was hurt.
What was striking was that the operations were limited to the Ragnitz area up to Sankt Peter.
Operations were also needed in the Graz area – such as in Pachern (see video below) or Liebensdorf. The police announced that the B73 was closed due to flooding over there is not passable. The area must be circumvented on a large scale.
