A thief quietly and surreptitiously snuck into a 78-year-old woman’s apartment while she was talking to a fake handyman in the bathroom.
The two alleged craftsmen had planned their project well on Monday morning: around 10 a.m., one of the men in work clothes rang the doorbell of a 78-year-old lady in the Gries district of Graz, saying that he was here because of mold.
Empty drawers worth thousands of euros
Under this pretext, the woman entered the bathroom with the man, where the stranger engaged in conversation with her. Meanwhile, his accomplice may have quietly and secretly entered the apartment and emptied the drawers.
The woman only noticed two days later that she was missing gold coins and cash worth several thousand euros. She filed a complaint and the investigation is ongoing.
