“Duck good, all good” – for the animal family it was a real shock! A duck mother and her eight chicks got lost on the Inntal Autobahn in the Tyrolean lowland on Tuesday. Fortunately, involved police officers and employees of the Asfinag route service managed to rescue the young family and bring them to safety.
Shortly before 1 p.m., the police control room received several emergency calls. It involved an animal emergency that could have ended up leading to a traffic accident. The duck family – the mother and her eight chicks – got lost on the A12 near Vomp (Schwaz district) and eventually ended up on the central reservation.
Animal rescue successful
Two police officers from the Autobahnpolitie and the Asfinag route service immediately rushed over and briefly blocked the A12. The animal rescue operation could begin. As the mother duck flew away, her chicks were carefully placed in a tub and taken to safety.
Family reunion on the field
Finally, the family reunion was successfully carried out by the police and Asfinag in an adjacent field behind the highway after the duck mother saw her eight chicks. After all, they had loudly drawn attention to themselves. Duck good, all good…
