A bus driver was driving his passengers on Heiligenstädter Strasse in Vienna on Thursday afternoon when he suddenly initiated an emergency stop at an intersection. Several passengers lost their balance and fell to the ground. Six of the occupants were injured.
Woman hit her head through a window
The victims included a two-year-old and her heavily pregnant mother. A 55-year-old woman was the hardest hit. She was knocked over by the strong braking forces and thrown off the bus through a security window. She suffered multiple head injuries.
Several rescue teams from the Viennese professional rescue service, the Johanniter and the Samaritan Association were on the scene. All six injured people received emergency medical attention and were taken to different clinics in Vienna.
