Serious accident at work in Westendorf (Tyrol): Under unfortunate circumstances, a resident (32) was hit by the tailgate of a work vehicle. The man suffered serious injuries.
The 32-year-old was carrying out work on a so-called “dumper” (used to transport gravel, sand, etc.) in a company. To do this, he lifted the tailgate, which weighed about 70 kilograms, and secured it with a metal bar to prevent it from lowering.
Flap suddenly closed
When the 32-year-old was half-headed into the machine, the metal bar came loose and the valve closed. As a result, the man’s head was pinched and he suffered serious head injuries. He was flown by rescue helicopter to the clinic in Innsbruck.
