A 58-year-old wanted to leave the A1 at the Oberwang exit (Upper Austria) on Thursday evening, but crashed into the lane divider, rolled over and initially remained unconscious in the car. The highway was closed for more than two hours after the accident.
The motorist from Innerschwand am Mondsee drove on the western highway towards Vienna shortly before 10 p.m. With a blood alcohol level of 1.62, as the alcohol test later showed.
Thrown over the exit
At the Oberwang exit, it hit the lane divider, threw itself over the exit ramp and came to rest on the opposite side of the lane. The man initially lay motionless in his car, but regained consciousness shortly afterwards. After first aid, he was taken to the hospital in Vöcklabruck. The severity of his injuries is unknown.
