Raab in Copenhagen – problem area: integration with the wrecking ball

Date:

What does a minister do on a rainy afternoon in Copenhagen? That’s right, visit what is probably the most problematic part of the city. As reported, Susanne Raab was sent to the Danish capital by Chancellor Karl Nehammer.

Reason: The Nordic state has a restrictive approach to immigration. For example, migrants are expected to work and look for work. If you prove that, Social Security benefits will bubble up. Otherwise not.

A settlement where even stricter measures are being taken is Mjølnerparken. Located directly on a former access road, until recently 1,800 people lived here, spread over four blocks and 560 social rental homes. Crime was the order of the day, “Violence was normal”, reveals an urban planner on tour with the “Krone”. Now the government is reacting harshly, as in the case of countless other settlements that have been declared “problem regions”. Integration with the wrecking ball, so to speak.

60 percent of residents had to leave their homes. The blocks are redesigned in a big action. A mix of all social classes should move in. This is how integration should work.

It was immediately clear to the minister that such drastic measures would hardly be suitable for a majority in our country. But also that dangerous parallel societies and therefore unrest, such as the one in 2020 in Favoriten, arise precisely where the proportion of foreigners is particularly high. Copenhagen fights against this by all means. Austria not (yet).
