On the Karawankenautobahn near Rosegg, a civilian patrol attempted to stop a motorist on Monday afternoon for a check of the driver and the vehicle. The 64-year-old first followed the civilian patrol, but then accelerated again and tried to escape – which ended up in a field and eventually in hospital.
On Whit Monday around 12:48 a.m., a 64-year-old from the Villach-Land district drove his car on the Karawanken Autobahn A11 in the direction of Villach. The crew of a civilian patrol from the Villach Motorway Police tried to stop the vehicle, whereupon the driver of the civilian patrol initially followed the tailback lane, but then steered back to the A11 and continued at high speed.
The driver wanted to get rid of the officials
At the St. Niklas exit, the civilian patrol was able to overtake the vehicle of the fleeing driver, after which, after several overtaking maneuvers in heavy traffic, he suddenly switched from the second lane to the slow-moving lane of the St. Niklas highway exit.
The car hit obstacles and overturned
The driver left the highway, crossed the intersection with the L59 at high speed and then collided with his vehicle against the posted signposts and guardrails, after which the vehicle overturned and ended up on its roof in the adjacent field.
The driver of the accident does not have a valid driver’s license
The officers of the civil patrol immediately removed the injured person from the vehicle, administered first aid and alerted the rescue service.
The man was taken to the LKH Villach after medical first aid. The main fire station in Villach and the FF Drobollach were also deployed. A report is made of the man who did not have a valid driver’s license.
