An accident occurred with a team of horses in Tyrol on Tuesday at noon. Halfway between the Engalm rest hut in Hinterriss, Vomp (Schwaz district) and the parking lot of the Engal inn, the horses suddenly bolted. The carriage overturned, the coachman (69) was injured.
A resident (69) drove alone with his team of horses with two Noriker horses in Hinterriss, municipality of Vomp, coming from the Engalm rest hut in the direction of the parking lot of Gasthof Eng. Halfway through, a horse suddenly bolted because of a noise, which was then also passed on to the second horse.
The man tried to rein in the animals, whereupon the horse turned right. The bumpy road caused the carriage to tip to the right and come to rest in the adjacent field. This eventually brought the horses to a halt.
Admitted for observation as an inpatient
The 69-year-old was injured, but still managed to uncouple the horses and return them to pasture under his own power. The man was then flown by the alerted ambulance helicopter to the Schwaz district hospital, where he was admitted as an inpatient for observation.
