“The identified persons are not only people who have used child pornography, but also abused children,” the police statement said.
More of 2200 pedophiles operating over the Internet have been identified in an operation coordinated by Swiss police forces that has lasted more than a decade under the code name “Ninja Turtle”, one of the institutions participating in this action reported today.
The campaign led to arrests in various cantons of Switzerland but also in Croatia, Brazil, France, Peru, Romania and Spainthe cantonal police of Aargovia (north of the country), one of the main responsibles for the operation, said in a statement.
The criminals identified operated under pseudonyms on the net and exchanged illegal pornographic contentand were initially discovered by the Swiss Federal Police in 2012 through one of the distributors in Aargau, who used the pseudonym Ninja Turtle.
The exchange took place through a digital platform called GigaTribethat allows you to operate from anonymity.
Aargovia police managed to identify Ninja Turtle – a German national who was then 62 years old and convicted – but the security service maintained that virtual profile to conduct undercover investigations to track down other suspects.
“The identified are not only people who have used child pornography, but also abused childrenstressed the police statement, which emphasized the need to continue international cooperation between security forces to combat these crimes.
