After a 52-year-old was found dead in his apartment in Salzburg on Wednesday, the police now assume an act of violence. So far there is no trace of the culprit. The first investigations will be carried out in the coming days.
The requested autopsy revealed negligence on the part of third parties, a police spokeswoman said on Thursday afternoon. The spokeswoman did not provide information about the man’s reported injuries and cause of death.
No natural death
Immediately after the discovery of the body, the police could not rule out negligence on the part of third parties. Initially, the cause of death was not clear. The police commission assumed that it was not a natural death from outside influences. The public prosecutor therefore ordered an autopsy of the man.
Family alerted the police
The victim’s apartment is located in the Schallmoos district of Salzburg. The police were told by the family on Wednesday that the man had not been seen that day and that this was not part of his usual daily routine, the police spokeswoman said. So officials opened the 52-year-old’s apartment to check.
The National Investigation Department has started the investigation. The evaluation of the traces found in the dead man’s apartment “is still ongoing,” said the spokeswoman. In addition, the neighbors of the deceased are asked if they have noticed anything suspicious.
